About Principal Jensen

Dear William A. Carter School Community,

I am honored and privileged to serve as the principal of William A. Carter Elementary School.   I have been fortunate to have Carter as my school home and family for the past 21 years.
I started in the district as a teacher in 2002 and served as a classroom teacher for the next 10 years.  In 2012, I became one of the Assistant Principals at Carter.  Then in 2016, I was honored to take on the role as building principal.   Our school, scholars, families and staff mean so much to me and have a special piece of my heart.

As I enter the building each day, I remind myself that your children are my children.  For seven hours a day you entrust the care, well-being and education of your children to me and my team.   I take this responsibility and commitment very seriously.  Daily, I work to ensure that each and every child in our school feels known for the unique individual that they are.  Also, my top priority is that your child feel safe, valued and cared for at school

I feel confident in the talents, efforts and commitment of each of our staff members within the roles that they serve your child at school.  All of us at Carter live by,  Every Scholar, Every Day!
We are a collective school however we are made up of unique, valuable individuals who come from varied life situations and experiences.  Our uniqueness is what makes us special and provides us with the opportunity to learn from one another in order to respect, learn and grow together.

Please know that our educational journey together is an important one as we lay the foundation for your child’s educational success and future.  Please know that my door is always open to you for our school is your school, we are in this together.

Your partner in education,
Kathleen Jensen
